Renewing your BCRPA Fitness Registration

Renewal for Current Fitness Leaders

To stay current with your BCRPA Fitness Registration, Fitness Leaders must have the following completed before your renewal date:

  • Current CPR certification (minimum: CPR A)
  • Current First Aid certification (minimum: Emergency or Standard First Aid)
  • Proof of Continuing Education Credits - Please check your account on The Registry® of Fitness Professionals to see how many renewal CECs are required
    • Please submit your CEC petitions early. Processing of CEC petitions may take between 5-10 business days.

BCRPA Fitness Program Registration Fee ($150/two years) paid by your renewal date.

  • Renewal is paid through The Registry® of Fitness Professionals (www.thefitnessregistry.com). To renew your registration, please sign into your account on The Registry and go to your Main Page. Once there, you can click on “View Details”  next to your registration status and the system will take you through processing your renewal fee
    • If your registration is expired, please refer to the tab below, titled “Renewal for Expired Fitness Leaders”.

Remember that it is your responsibility to keep your BCRPA Registration and your CPR and your First Aid certifications valid.

Please NoteOnce any of these expire, you are no longer covered under the BCRPA insurance program.

Updating CPR and First Aid certifications

In order to be considered "current" with your BCRPA Fitness Registration, you must have a valid CPR and First Aid Certification.

To check the expiry date, as well as to update your CPR and First Aid certifications, log-in to your account on The Registry® of Fitness Professionals.

You are not required to submit copies of your certificates, unless you are flagged for a random audit after inputting your details.

Submitting CECs Online

The BCRPA Fitness Registration system is a fully automated self-serve registration renewal system. All renewals must be processed online through The Registry® of Fitness Professionals (no exceptions). All registration renewal submissions to the BCRPA must be done online through the accounts of individual Fitness Leaders.

How Do I Input My CECs?

You can update your CECs by way of a CEC petition, found under the "CEC Log" accordion on your User Account page. Expand this accordion and then click on "Submit CEC Petition". You'll then be taken to a form to fill out. You'll notice that you have the option to select whether the training you are submitting is pre-approved for CECs; see below for more information on this:

BCRPA Pre-Approved CEC Form - Training that you have taken that was found off the BCRPA website & has the amount of BCRPA CECs listed on the attendance certificate.

External Training CEC Petition - All other training/workshops.

Both forms will require you to upload a copy of your attendance/completion certificate. This means that if you only have a hard-copy, you will have to scan the certificate or take a picture of it with a digital camera/cell-phone camera to upload an electronic version.

All credits input will be verified by a member of the Fitness Team, so your account will not be immediately updated; please allow 5-10 business days for your CECs to be processed.

Submitting CECs as hard copies

Administrative Fees for hard copy submissions

The BCRPA reserves the right to refuse renewal documents (i. e. CEC certificates) that are submitted as hard-copies. Manual handling of such documents (i. e. BCRPA staff’s inputting of the renewal documents into a Fitness Leader’s account) will be subjected to an administration fee of $25 per submission.

Renewal for Expired Fitness Leaders

Leaders who have allowed their BCRPA registration to expire, will have to meet the same renewal requirements plus additional requirements depending on how long they have been expired.

NOTE: The BCRPA insurance policy does not cover leaders during time periods where they have allowed their registration to expire.
