Your BCRPA membership benefits will depend on your membership type. General member benefits include:

BCRPA Membership runs on a calendar year, January 1 - December 31.

Membership categories

Local Government Enrolment

Local Government Enrolment is for Municipalities and Regional Districts. Enrolling with the BCRPA enables local governments to extend free and unlimited Individual Government memberships to their recreation, parks, and culture employees, members of council, boards, and committees, volunteers and retirees.

Benefits

Enrolling your municipality / regional district with the BCRPA provides free and unlimited memberships for your parks, recreation, and culture employees, volunteers, and retirees. Membership enables them to be an active part of an association with more than 6,000 professionals throughout the province who collectively are helping improve the overall health and sustainability of our province.

Providing your employees with a free BCRPA membership will connect them to their counterparts across BC, educating and informing them while expanding their professional networks. The BCRPA’s annual conferences and events give direct access to innovative technologies and ideas, industry knowledge, and interaction with sector practitioners to help continue their professional development; all at discounted member rates.

Fees

The population-based enrollment fee is adapted from the model used by UBCM and follows their same tiered structure.

Individual Government Member

Recreation, parks, and culture employeesmembers of council, boards, and committees, volunteers and retirees of a BCRPA enrolled local government receive free Individual Government memberships. Individual application is required.

Benefits

Municipalities / regional districts enrolled with the BCRPA are able to offer free and unlimited Individual Government memberships to their parks, recreation, and culture employees, volunteers and retirees.

With a BCRPA membership you will be an active part of an association with more than 6,000 professionals throughout the province who collectively are helping improve the overall health and sustainability of our province.

BCRPA membership will connect you to your counterparts across BC, educating and informing you while expanding your professional networks. Application

Important information:

  1. To be eligible for a free individual government membership your local government must already be enrolled with the BCRPA.
     
  2. Memberships can not be taken out on behalf of others. Each application has to be sent from the web account of the individual applying for membership.

Individual Independent Member

For practitioners working in the physical activity, recreation, parks and culture sector, however their employer is not a currently enrolled Local Government or an Affiliate Member.

Benefits

With a BCRPA membership you will be an active part of an association with more than 6,000 professionals throughout the province who collectively are helping to improve the overall health and sustainability of our province.

BCRPA membership will connect you to your counterparts across BC, educating and informing you while expanding your professional networks. The BCRPA’s annual conferences and events give direct access to innovative technologies and ideas, industry knowledge, and interaction with sector practitioners to help continue their professional development; all at discounted member rates.

Corporate Member

A private-sector corporation or commercial organization with a constructive interest in furthering the objectives of the Association. Corporate memberships includes two voting members.

Benefits

Our membership consists of more than 6,000 professionals in positions ranging from local government elected officials, parks and recreation directors and senior administrators, to managers, programmers, fitness leaders and volunteers. Collectively, they are responsible for over $11 billion worth of infrastructure and purchasing across the province.

You will have access to your key target audiences in the parks, recreation and culture industry, with the ability to interact with them through conference attendance and exhibition opportunities, all at discounted rates.

Membership also gives you a voice in support of the parks, recreation and culture sector.

Membership includes:

Affiliate Member

Not-for-profit organizations and educational institutions with connections to the recreation, parks, and culture sector. Staff, volunteers and retirees of a current Affiliate member are eligible to purchase an Individual Affiliate membership. 

Benefits

An Affiliate membership will provide you with a direct connection to practitioners and their activities and initiatives – giving you an opportunity to make valuable contacts and support the growth and development of the sector.

Membership with the BCRPA is a tool that will help you keep up to date on the continuously-evolving parks and recreation environment and all the funding and partnership opportunities it provides. The BCRPA’s annual conferences and events give you direct access to innovative technologies and ideas, industry knowledge, and interaction with sector practitioners to help you continue your professional development and connections; all at discounted member rates.

Membership also enables you to actively participate in the development of our province’s parks, recreation and culture sector.

  • Discounted BCRPA membership rates for additional employees and volunteers of registered Affiliate Member 
  • Transferable membership for primary member (one time only)

Individual Affiliate Member

Staff, volunteers and retirees of a current affiliate member are eligible to purchase an Individual Affiliate membership.

Student Member

First year membership is complimentary to students enrolled full-time in a recreation/parks related degree, diploma or certificate program offered by a post-secondary institute who is a current BCRPA Affiliate member. Students must not be employed full-time in a recreation/parks/culture related field.

To renew a student membership after the first complimentary year is $60 per year. (Note: all student membership applications will be reviewed by the BCRPA prior to processing.)
