I have a Kinesiology Degree

If you have a Kinesiology Degree (or equivalent) you do not qualify for a direct transfer. But, you can bypass some steps required to register in the Weight Training Specialty.

These are the steps you will be able to bypass:

  • Take the Fitness Theory Exam without taking the Fitness Theory Course
  • Get an Instructor Competency Evaluation for Weight Training without taking a Weight Training core specialty module course.

For details on the entire registration process check out the Become a Weight Training Fitness Leader page.

To start your BCRPA Fitness Registration complete the following steps:

  1. Fill out this Application form and wait for an email from us
    • You will be required to submit:
      • Proof of degree completion or current enrollment,
      • a copy of your transcripts (unofficial acceptable) and
      • university-issued course syllabi for the courses you feel were equivalent to the BCRPA Weight Training course
  2. Once your application has been approved, create an account on The Registry®
  3. In The Registry® upload your current CPR and First Aid certifications
  4. In The Registry® write and pass the BCRPA Fitness Theory Exam
    • This is an insurance requirement (i.e. proof of knowledge)
    • This can be purchased on your account on The Registry® under "Exam History"
  5. Complete an Instructor Competency Evaluation (ICE) in the Weight Training specialty
    • To find a mentor who will perform your evaluation, and for the forms, check here.
    • Note: Your kinesiology degree has offered you a course bypass. If you do not pass the ICE you will have to take the Weight Training Core Specialty Module before getting re-evaluated.

You will be charged a $25 transfer administration fee, which will be invoiced to you through your account on The Registry®.

Once you have completed these 5 steps above, paid the $25 application fee, and have been notified that your application has been approved, the final step will be to pay the one year registration fee on The Registry®.
