Practicum & ICE
Instructor Competency Evaluation (ICE)
Practicum & Instructor Competency Evaluation (ICE)
To obtain your Osteofit Leader credentials, you’ll need to complete a practicum and pass the Instructor Competency Evaluation (ICE).
As you will be supporting a higher risk population, you will need to complete an ICE every three years to maintain your Osteofit Leader credentials.
Practicum Requirements
You’ll need to complete:
- 8 hours of practicum with a currently certified Osteofit Fitness Instructor, either in-person or virtually.
During your practicum, you’ll have the opportunity to lead portions of a fitness class and receive feedback from your supervising instructor.
Important Notes:
- Always get permission from the facility and class participants before starting your practicum.
- Practicum fees may vary—please check with your facilitator for details.
If you need support with arranging practicum time, contact Jaimee Stokes and include this information:
- The module you’re completing.
- Your preferred location(s).
- Your general availability.
- Your desired completion date.
The Osteofit Leader ICE (Instructor Competency Evaluation) will require you to:
- Ask a few friends or family members to be your “clients”, and
- Get permission to use space at a local gym or fitness facility.
Completing Your ICE
You’ll complete your ICE with a qualified Osteofit Leader ICE Evaluator. Fees for this service range depending on the evaluator.
Before getting started:
- Download and read your Osteofit Leader ICE Package
- Find and contact a certified ICE Evaluator
Once your ICE is complete and you’ve passed, your Evaluator will send everything directly to BCRPA.
Heads-up: Processing can take 5–10 business days.
You’re Covered (With Insurance!)
As long as your BCRPA Registration is active, you’re covered by BCRPA’s insurance policy while completing your practical hours—including your ICE.
To stay covered:
- You must complete a re-ICE every 3 years.
- Keep your CPR and First Aid certifications valid at all times.
- Complete all Practicum and ICE requirements.
Once everything’s done and approved, your Osteofit Leader specialty will be officially added to your account on The Registry® of Fitness Professionals.
Congratulations! You are now a BCRPA Registered Osteofit Leader!
