POOLSAFE BC COURSE

 

BCRPA, in partnership with the BC Municipal Safety Association, WorkSafeBC, Lifesaving Society and CUPE BC, is proud to present the PoolSafe BC course.

This course is taught by knowledgeable, trained professionals in the field of recreation aquatics and focuses on pool worker safety rather than pool operations.

Course Format

The course is available as a traditional workshop, as well as in an online format.

Online

The PoolSafeBC course can be taken online at BCRPA's E-Learning website. The online format takes between 3 to 4 hours to complete and participants can start and stop at their convenience.

 

In-person format

In-person workshops are 8 hours in duration. Participants will receive a course material binder.

The goal of this training is to provide aquatic centre staff with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize, evaluate, and control hazards in a pool setting in BC.

PoolSafeBC Course Content Includes:

  • Hazards
  • Chemical Safety
  • Emergency Preparation and Response

  • Comprehension Test
  • Participants will receive a certificate of participation upon completion (minimum 70% passing grade on the exam)

Delivery Format

  • In-person workshops are 8 hours in duration. Participants will receive a course material binder.
  • Online Delivery - available on the BCRPA's E-Learning website, and is approximately 3 to 4 hours in duration. Course material binder is NOT available for this format.
  • a 70% passing grade on the exam is required in order to receive a Certificate of Completion, for either format
