Renewal Information for Current Leaders

Please note:

Starting immediately, the BCRPA will have fully transitioned to an automated self-serve registration renewal system. All renewals must be processed online through The Registry® of Fitness Professionals (no exceptions). All registration renewal submissions to the BCRPA must be done online through the accounts of individual Fitness Leaders. The BCRPA reserves the right to refuse renewal documents (i. e. CEC certificates) that are submitted as hard-copies. Manual handling of such documents (i. e. BCRPA staff’s inputting of the renewal documents into a Fitness Leader’s account) will be subjected to an administration fee of $25 per submission.

The BCRPA is committed to providing guidance and assistance on the usage and navigation of The Registry®. Demystifying the Registry® is a workshop hosted by the BCRPA designed to provide hands-on guidance. Check the Workshop listings for the next available offering.

Registered Leaders - Fitness Theory

Leaders who are only registered in Fitness Theory do not have any renewal requirements as Fitness Theory registration is only valid for one year. However, within that initial year, those registered in Fitness Theory are required to advance their fitness education by fully completing and registering in a specialty module. If they do not become fully registered within this initial year, they start the entire process again. This involves re-writing the Fitness Theory exam and re-registering with the BCRPA in Fitness Theory.

Registered Leaders - First Year

Leaders who have completed the first year requirements of submitting their specialty module do not have any renewal requirements other than submitting a copy of *current First Aid and CPR and the BCRPA Fitness Program Membership fee ($140 / 2 years).

Registered Leaders – Specialty Modules
(Aquatic, Group, Pilates, Yoga, Weight Training, Osteofit and Personal Training)

If you are currently registered, you must update the following within your account on The Registry® of Fitness Professionals for renewal:

  • *Current CPR certification (minimum: CPR A)
  • *Current First Aid certification (minimum: Emergency or Standard First Aid)
  • Proof of 16 Continuing Education Credits (CECs)
  • BCRPA Fitness Program Membership fee ($140 / 2 years)

Registered Supervisors of Fitness Leaders & Trainers of Fitness Leaders

If you are currently registered, you must update the following information within your account on The Registry® of Fitness Professionals for renewal:

  • *Current CPR certification (minimum: CPR A)
  • *Current First Aid certification (minimum: Emergency or Standard First Aid)
  • Proof of 20 Continuing Education Credits (CECs)
  • BCRPA Fitness Program Membership fee ($140 / 2 years)

 * Renewal dates for the CPR and First Aid certifications depend on the expiry date set by the issuing certifier/s. If your certificate does not have an expiry date, the BCRPA will accept it as current for two years from the issue date. For insurance purposes, the BCRPA needs confirmation that the certificates are current at the time of your Fitness Leader renewal and that they remain current for the duration of your registration period (2 years).
