How To Become Registered

Registering with the BCRPA provides you with industry wide recognition that you have met the highest standards for fitness leadership.  BCRPA standards are consistent with the standards set by the National Fitness Leadership Alliance.  Meeting these national standards through the BCRPA means that your BCRPA registration is recognized across Canada.  

Currently, the BCRPA registers fitness leaders in:

  • Aquatic Fitness
  • Group Fitness
  • Osteofit
  • Older Adult Fitness
  • Personal Training
  • Pilates Fitness
  • Weight Training
  • Yoga Fitness

Candidates are eligible to apply to register with the BCRPA and The Registry® of Fitness Professionals following the successful completion of required elements, which vary depending on which of the above registrations you are pursuing. Elements may include:

  • Completion of coursework approved by the BCRPA
  • Written exams – closed book
  • Written exams – open book
  • Practical exams
  • Practicum hours working with actual clients

In addition, all registered fitness leaders are required to maintain current First Aid and CPR credentials.
